Google Vids is Google Workspace’s AI-powered video creation and editing app. It is great for making training videos, onboarding videos, sales pitches, product videos, and other videos that use a similar format. This can be done using their templates, screen recording, stock media, Gemini, Veo and AI avatars and voiceovers.
What Can You Do With Google Vids?
- Jump-start from existing work: Turn a Google Slides deck into a video, use professional templates and royalty-free stock, or generate a first draft from a prompt plus a Drive file.
- Record without a studio: Capture screen + audio in a recording studio, or skip the camera and use AI-generated clips, music, avatars, and voiceovers.
- Edit like a document: Work from a text transcript instead of a complex timeline; add captions and transitions quickly.
- AI video generation: Use Gemini Omni (including free HD generation with Omni 1.1 Flash for many Google accounts) and Veo to create or modify clips from prompts, with realistic motion and audio. You can also customize and direct AI avatars (appearance, clothing, background, interaction with uploaded objects) while keeping a consistent face and voice.
- Localization: Automatic transcription/captions; AI avatars and voiceovers in 24 languages.
- Your own media: Pull photos and videos from Drive or Google Photos.
Collaboration and Sharing
Google Vids works like Docs/Sheets/Slides: comment, co-edit, and use familiar permission controls (view / comment / edit). Playback is in the browser with auto captions. Videos can be exported directly to YouTube (default private). Content is encrypted like the rest of Workspace.
Limits and Availability
- The maximum length of a video is generally 30 minutes per video. Widescreen, vertical, and square aspect ratios are supported.
- You can create and edit on the desktop-only. You can view the videos works on any device, desktop, tablet or mobile.
- Google Vids is included in many Business and Enterprise Workspace plans (access expanded over time, including Starter in some drops). Consumer Google accounts can use core creation and some free AI generation (e.g. limited Veo clips or Omni HD scenes);
