Matic is introducing Matic Cues, which is a voice and gesture feature for its premium robot vacuum-and-mop from Matic Robots. It responds to your voice and gestures. This allows you to control your Matic robot through your voice and gestures.
With Matic Cues, Matic now responds to your voice and gestures. You wake it up by saying “Hey Matic”, similar to Alexa. You can call it’s name from across the room and it’s microphones determine where your voice came from so that it can turn to look at you.
You can ask it to follow you into a room, for example, the kitchen, point at a pile of flour or a spill, and simply say “clean up this mess”, and it will clean it up.
With other robot cleaning devices, you have to interact with the machine through an app on your phone. Matic Cues let’s you interact with it simply by using your voice and gestures.
What About Privacy and Security?
“Hey Matic” wake word detection is entirely on-device so nothing goes to the cloud in terms of ambient sounds from your home. The gestures are all detected on the device as well. No camera data leaves your Matic robot.
Once you say “Hey Matic” and you hear a chime, you can give a command. This command is parsed anonymously using the Gemini API. No user information is sent to this API. If you don’t want to use Matic Cues, you can easily turn it off in the settings, and the microphones turn off.
