Google will continue to offer and support Gmail. However, it is shutting down support for Gmailify and POP mail fetching for third-party accounts, like Yahoo and Outlook inside the Gmail web interface.
Existing users can still access their email using these features until January 2027, although no new accounts are allowed to be set up and accounts that were previously set up will not be lost.
What Can You Do?
- Use the Mobile App: You can still add third-party email accounts (like Yahoo or Outlook) directly to the Gmail Mobile App on your phone or tablet.
- Set Up Forwarding: Turn on automatic mail forwarding from your external email provider directly to your Gmail address.
- Switch to IMAP Clients: Use a separate desktop email program like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird to manage multiple accounts.
